Composition Each vial contains: Sulbactam & Cefoperazone Inj. (I.M. / I.V. use) Product Description Sulbactam Sulbactam is a molecule which is given in combination with beta-lactam antibiotics to inhibit beta-lactamase, an enzyme produced by bacteria that destroys the antibiotics. Cefoperazone Cefoperazone is a third generation cephalosporin antibiotic. Mechanism of Action Sulbactam Sulbactam is an irreversible inhibitor of beta-lactamase; it binds the enzyme and does not allow it to interact with the antibiotic. Indications Respiratory tract infections, bacterial septecemia, skin & soft tissue infections, pelvic inflammatory disease, peritonitis and other intra abdominal infections, urinary tract infections, meningitis. Dosage Contra Indication Special Precautions Drug Interactions Cefoperazone exerts its bactericidal effect by inhibiting the bacterial cell wall synthesis, and sulbactam acts as a beta-lactamase inhibitor, to increase the antibacterial activity of cefoperazone against beta-lactamase producing organisms.
