Composition Rgeem 100 DT: Cefixime Trihydrate 100 mg. Rgeem 200: Cefixime Trihydrate 200 mg. Rgeem DS Cefixime Trihydrate Dry Syrup. Product Description Cefixime Trihydrate Cefixime is an oral third generation cephalosporin antibiotic. Mechanism of Action It has high affinity for penicillin binding proteins with varying site of activity. It acts by inhibition of bacterial cell-wall synthesis. Pharmaco Kinetics Bioavailability - 40% to 50% ; Protein binding - Approximately 60% ; Half life - Variable Average 3 to 4 hours ; Excretion - Renal and biliary Indications Uncomplicated Urinary Tract Infections, Otitis Media, Pharyngitis and Tonsillitis, Acute Bronchitis and Acute Exacerbations of Chronic Bronchitis and Uncomplicated gonorrhea (cervical/urethral) Special Precautions RGEEM should be prescribed with caution in individuals with a history of gastrointestinal disease, particularly colitis. Precaution should be taken while using in Pregnancy, Labor and Delivery, in Nursing Mothers and in Paediatric Use.

Dosage Adults The recommended dose of RGEEM is 400 mg daily. This may be given as a 400 mg tablet daily or as 200 mg tablet every 12 hours. For the treatment of uncomplicated cervical/urethral gonococcal infections, a single oral dose of 400 mg is recommended. Children The recommended dose is 8 mg/kg/day of the suspension. This may be administered as a single daily dose or may be given in two divided doses, as 4 mg/kg every 12 hours. Contra Indication Hypersensitivity Drug Interactions Elevated carbamazepine levels have been reported in postmarketing experience when RGEEM is administered concomitantly. Drug monitoring may be of assistance in detecting alterations in carbamazepine plasma concentrations. Also, warfarin and anticoagulants increases prothrombin time, with or without clinical bleeding, which has been reported when cefixime when it is administered concomitantly. Adverse Effects G-I disturbance. Headaches, dizziness. Rashes. Packing A strip of 10 tablets, for both 100 / 200 mg. A bottle of 30 ml.
