Composition Each Tab & Inj. Contains: Pantoprazole 40mg./IV Product Description Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor effective in short term treatment for gastric and duodenal ulcer. They are used in combination with antibacterial for the eradication of H-pylori. Pantoprazole is very potent inhibitor of gastric acid output. Mechanism of Action Act by specific inhibition of H+/K+/AT pase enzyme system at the secretory surface of gastric parietal cell. It blocks the final step in acid production. Pharmaco Kinetics Rapidly absorbed after oral administration. On set of action is within 2-4 hours, duration of action is about 24 hours. The drug is subject to low first pass-hepatic excretion, the oral bio-availability is 77%. Its being excreted as urinary metabolites, the reminder is excreted in the faeces. |
Indications Acid related disorder like peptic ulcer (duodenal and gastric ulcer), reflux oesophagitis, H-pylori infection, Zollinger - Ellison Syndrome. Dosage 40mg Once daily before breakfast. Contra Indication Hypersensitivity to salt. Special Precautions Not recommended for use in children, pregnancy and lactation. Long term use may lead to bacterial overgrowth. Drug Interactions Oral contra-ceptive : No interaction with low dose combined oral contra-ceptive has been seen. Adverse Effects Diarrhoea, Skin Rash, Dizziness, pruritus.
